Good things in small packages

OMG it has been exactly a month since I left Italy. It all seems so far away now but I have a reminder of Italy every day when I get into my car. My previous car (my wonderful Audi A4) was totaled in an accident at the end of February, just a little more than a month prior to departing for Italy. As luck would have it my ex, the lovely D, was going out of town for 3 weeks and offered me the use of her car during her absence. So I saw no real sense in buying a car and putting it in the garage for 2 months. I did test drive some cars, including the Fiat 500 and it’s faster brother, the Abarth version. Massimiliano, my friend who works for Fiat in Torino called it the little “missile”. Surprisingly enough I really liked the regular version better than the speedier one. So a lot of things transpired when I was in Italy. One very personal one was that I started corresponding with a woman that I had met here via the web and that gradually became more and more a real relationship even though we were 6200 miles apart. Then during the last two weeks of my sojourn in Italy I started looking in earnest for a Fiat 500. As luck would have it I found the last 2013 model, totally new, at a considerable discount from a new one. It was in San Francisco so I bought it and bought insurance for it before ever leaving Italy. The day that I returned, the lovely K picked me up at the airport sans suitcase which was misplaced by the airline. The next day I took BART into San Francisco and drove home in my spiffy little car. BTW the suitcase finally made it to my house 2 days later – undamaged and unpilfered. I also bought a mini iPad so now I can say that good things come in small packages as illustrated below.
